How I tutor
All my tuition begins with a thorough consultation process in which I work with students and parents to design a customised course of study. Perhaps you need to target an area of particular difficulty, or would benefit from a balanced mix of skills practice? Or maybe your child is feeling uninspired and requires a fresh challenge? Whatever the goal, together we will create an engaging, flexible plan to enable you or your child to build the competence and self-belief to take the next steps on the journey through the exciting worlds of English.
For many students, writing is a key focus of tuition sessions and with good reason – it can feel like one of the trickiest skills to master. However, I believe that you shouldn't need to wait until you've attained a particular lofty level or absorbed some mysterious body of knowledge in order to derive pleasure from writing well. When writing is coached effectively, students of any age and stage of experience can feel that satisfaction now. Whether they're composing an enchanting fairytale, a pithy letter of persuasion, or a well-reasoned academic argument, I help my students to see themselves as confident and capable writers, able to enjoy both the craft of writing and the achievement of putting together a compelling, impressive product.
